❀ A hundred years ago the earth was greener and a lot healthier compared to the contemporary world. However, human activities such as deforestation, industrialization and usage of fossil fuel have caused several significant damages to the earth, and its biodiversity. Among them, climate change is the main source of the global issue, which has become a hot topic in every news and reports. Climate change changes the ecosystem where hundreds of animals die of hunger and shelter, changing their food chain. Thousands of plant species get extinct, disrupting the biodiversity and extreme weather conditions occur, killing the ecosystem, due to the natural disasters and harsh phenomenon. Ultimately, resulting a warmer, unhealthier and a riskier earth for our future generations.
Climate change is a negatively impactful change to the organisms thriving in the earth’s rich biodiversity, where their fate could end up in extinction. According to the study conducted by The department of environmental management and endangered species, USA (2022), after the pandemic, endangered animals such as

Bengal tigers, mountain lions red pandas et cetera, were found to have increased in their numbers by 13.4% in the average rate. However, their survival rate gradually decreased as years passed by. This clearly explains how pause in human activities also pause the climate to change, leading to a better situation in the ecosystem. However, the department also concludes by bringing the notice in the gradual decrease of their survival rate as the world resumes again for economy. Such dynamics decrease the number of endangered species until one day dogs also become one, if the same trend continues. This trend disrupts the biodiversity and also changes their food chain. Hence, climate change is an evil conversion for innocent animals around the globe.
Climate change also changes the biodiversity. The plant and trees species faces a difficult challenge, adapting to a changing environment. Ultimately, destroys them. This causes a huge impact, leaving the ecosystem ruthless. These statements were backed by an article called ‘Greener’ by James Fredrick (A Bio-Geologist). In his article, he emphasized the most on human greed that caused harm to the biodiversity and harming themselves at the very end. According to the readers and viewers, the article meant about humans working for money, despite the fact that the natural lives were being affected. At the very end, food became scarce when agricultural production did not cooperate. Such concepts disrupted and twisted the balanced ecosystem that was seen a hundred years ago. In addition, Fredrick also writes about the importance of plant species and their habitat. If they didn’t have well-defined placements, wild life became a big threat to the humans.

Such issue arose in 2021 at Mongar, when a tiger attacked a man (Kuensel,Nov.18). Similarly, in 2022 an elephant attacked and injured a woman in Gelephu
(The Bhutanese,Oct. 10). Therefore, making climate change a great-negative impact to the ecosystem where both humans and animals become a threat to each other.
Weather can be another factor for the change in ecosystem, where it is backed by the climate change. Dynamics in air pressure, humidity and temperature causes an abnormal regularity of weather conditions in places, where such phenomena were rare to be found. In 2022, during the pandemic, most parts of Bhutan were covered with snow (Kuensel, 2021, Jan). Even places like Samcholing (Drakteng,Trongsa) experienced snowfall, despite being considered in a temperate region. Such data were pleasing to be heard for most of the individuals. However, many noticed that those events only occurred once. In addition, the study conducted by Aljazeera, |

also supports the statement. The study concluded by pointing out places like India, Pakistan and Thailand being prone to heat waves and droughts after the pandemic (Aljazeera, 2022). While some places struggled with droughts and heat waves, some parts of India, Nepal and even Bhutan experienced the increase rate of floods and rain. (Climate Impacts Tracker Asia, 2023). Such events disturbed significant amount of biodiversity, and destroyed the ecosystem. Therefore, labels weather, backed by climate change, as a nuisance to the global ecosystem.
The advent of human beings was a great achievement. Yet, a threat to the natural ecosystem. As time evolved, some animals met their fate of extinction due to man-made natural selection. It disturbed the biodiversity and altered harsh phenomenon. Even though, human activities led towards climate change, many organizations are formed in the world, in order to fight back and preserve the natural ecosystem. Hence, it is crucial for individuals to work together and walk towards a greener future.
