Melam Chenmo at Trongsa

On 13th March 2025, the Trongsa district held an auspicious event known as Melamchenmo, venued at the Trongsa dzong. The program was held in order to flourish peace and harmony throughout the land.

The program began by welcoming guests and students with the traditional Bhutanese porridge (Thup). Everybody then began seeking space and attended the morning pray. After a couple of hours, desuup volunteers started to serve breakfast. Soon after, individuals again proceeded with the pray.

Throughout the program, desuups continued to serve food, according to their assigned time, whether it was tea break or lunch. The attending guests also received money from the Lama, in order to signify blessing given by gods and goddess. Later on, students were called upon by the Lama. Students were given advice about their future which was supported by religious concepts. Then, the first day for the event officially ended by serving dinner.

Events such as Melamchenmo, is a great way of ensuring individuals to live in peace, harmony and also improve their religious status. Students can also gain a deeper understanding in Bhutanese culture and have faith in religion. Hence, it is crucial for individuals to attend such programs, as it is of a great merit.

However, human activities such as deforestation, industrialization and usage of fossil fuel have caused several significant damages to the earth, and its biodiversity.
